@kayleew5 - Hi! Just like for most normal patterns, you should use about 3 feet of thread for each string in the pattern. There are 4 strings in the pattern for color "A", so you'll want about 12 feet of thread for that color (= 3 feet times four). Colors "B" and "C" have two strings of each color, so you'll want about 6 feet of each of those colors (= 3 feet times two). If you don't have a ruler or tape measure, you can step on one end of the string & extend it all the way up the height of your body. If you're, say, 5 feet tall, just add about 12 inches more (you can estimate) to get your string length. Some people measure by their "wingspan", which is the distance between the ends of your fingers on each hand when you extend both your arms out as far as you can reach on each side of your body (like wings 😄). Also, a standard size piece of notebook or printer paper is 11 inches long, so you can use that as a guide since it's pretty close to a foot. Good luck! 😍
Also, a tip for anyone making this bracelet: If you want to make it look more like a twisting ribbon that really stands out, you can make the last 2 strings on the right hand side (labeled as "A" in the pattern) a different color than any of your other strings. Especially a neutral color like white or black will look like a "background" on the pattern, and then the other colors will be the ones that more clearly look like a ribbon in the "foreground." Check out the 3rd variation above the main pattern to see what I mean. 😊
