This is a 1212 pattern. That means that all the knots are fb or bf knots. When making only fb and bf knots the strings never change position. In the pattern the strings of the background colour A and the strings of the colours of the design B and C always alternate. That means any knot can either be the background colour or the colour of the design. This way you can make any design using 2 colours.
