Both should be fine.
I'd recommend segment knotting because it's faster. This pattern is perfect for segment knotting.

Love this pattern so much! for anyone making it, make sure to cut the navy strings extra long, they were used the fastest.

I actually started making this a couple weeks ago but my strings are too short to make it a full bracelet so I might make it a book mark! I will upload a pic when I finish!
