thanks for the help! I find it hard for me to do a color change like that on the edge so i guess this works out in my favor! tysm

sure. You can just add one extra string on either side and do bf knots onto the extra string on the left and fb knots onto the string on the right. This won't affect the rest of the pattern and in addition will give you smooth edges.
