The black knots you can make as backward knots are on the right half of the pattern. On the left half of the pattern, you can do all black knots as forward knots.
It is quite easy, two rows, which always repeat. A black v-shaped row, and then the coloured v-shape-row.
As soon as it is submitted, you can have a look at my photo. I started with a teardrop loop, and with a black V-row. You can start anywhere in the pattern, I started at line 3 with my black row.
Within the black rows, you do not need any fb knots, I did it all with backward knots.
