About 1.5 of my wingspan for the white strings and 1 of my wingspan for the colored strings worked really well for the length of the strings!! ☺️

@Ischoeny3 I think this would be a good first pattern, especially since you said you already made chevrons and half of this pattern is like a normal chevron 🙂
