This method of tying uses diagonal rows instead ofhorizontal ones. It is a lot faster, and also a lot less annoying. Knotting insections breaks normal patterns down into four different shapes: Diamonds, Triangles, Stripes, and Chevrons. You can do most normal patterns in this way. The kinds that you can't do like this are plaid patterns and those image normals that consist of only BF and FB knots.
STEP 1: Choose and print out a normal pattern.
STEP 2: Look at the pattern and begin to divide it into sections. At the beginning, you need to start from the sides and work your way to the middle. Many times, this can be done in more thatn one "right" way. If you are new to this method, you may want to decide which sections need to be knotted before others and label them as 1, 2, 3โฆetc. If you have two triangles on both sides of the beginning, label those as 1 and 2. This will be hard at first, but it will get easier as you get the hang of it. See the end of this tutorial for some suggested easy patterns and the way that I broke them down. The picture is pattern #8194, which is the same as #6343.
STEP 3: Start to make knots. Itโs good to start with a โbasesectionโ at a side or the middle of the bracelet and make other knots on top ofthat. You can use the pattern as a cheat sheet to see the paths that thestrings follow.

This is to help you get the hang of the technique.
STEP 1: Take the two strings right next to the middle strings and make a single chevron repetition.

STEP 1: Take the two strings right next to the middle strings and make a single chevron repetition.
STEP 4: Take the next set of end strings and make a chevron repetition, but on the first knot on each side make abackwards knot instead of a forwards knot.
STEP 6: Go back to step 2 and do it again (and again and again and again) until the bracelet is long enough.
You can make lots of different normals very quickly like this.
