Rate Tutorial
In this tutorial I will teach you how to shape your bracelets in a way that will keep the colors used in your bracelet more consistent.
*I did not create this technique and I am not sure of its creator, but I’ve seen people use it and decided to figure out how to do it by myself and make a tutorial.

Overview
In my photo, you can see how bracelets look with and without this technique. When the technique isn’t used, there are colors on the end that don't really make sense to be there and make it not look like the original pattern, but with the technique, your final product will look more like what you see when you first look at a shaped pattern on BraceletBook. This pattern is #88240.
Pattern
During this tutorial, I will be using this pattern #88240 and will be referring back to this photo throughout.
Strings
Start by cutting your strings for your chosen pattern. You will need to cut one additional string and that string should be longer than the others and should be the color you want to see on the outside or border of your creation.
*You do not need to add an extra string to do this, it just makes it easier. It you did use an extra string, you would use it as if it was a string in the pattern rather than a border.

Step 1
Divide your strings in half. This will look differently depending on the pattern and colors you are using. With your longer extra string on the left side, do a forward backward knot onto all of the strings. Do a backward forward knot with the long string on the right group of strings.
Step 2
In the pattern that I’m using, the first two strings at the top are gray strings so we’ll pull those out of the group of strings. These strings will stay outside of the group and we won’t be knotting over it anymore.
Step 3
Now using the long extra string, do a forward backward knot on the left and backward forward knot on the groups of strings on each side. Remember to keep the strings we pulled out in the last step in the middle.
Step 4
In the pattern I’m using, the next two strings are gray-ish blue, so I’ll pull those out of the group on the side and put them in the middle with the other two strings.
Step 5
Now using the longer string do a forward backward knot over the left group of strings and a backward forward knot over the right group.
Steps 6 - 10
Continue to follow the pattern of taking the next string from each side and doing forward backward and backward forward knots.
Step 12
Just like the beginning, do a forward backward knot onto the first string on the left and a backward forward knot onto the first string on the right.
Step 14
Do a forward backward knot over the first and second string from the left and a backward forward knot over the first and second strings.
Step 16
Do a forward backward knot onto the three strings on the left and a backward forward knot on the right three strings.
Steps 17 - 22
Continue to take the strings from the center and doing either forward backward knots or backward forward knots over them until you get to the center.
Now you're done!
Now you're done!
Here are some examples of things this technique can do!
