@karrots12 instead of leaving gaps you pull the knots tight. After you have made six sides it will form a cube shape with three open edges. You can close these open edges either by sewing them together or tying them together. I hope this makes sense. I plan on writing a tutorial on it but until then you can check out my story highlight "dice" on my Instagram @ pride.pixels where you can see progress pictures of a dice made with a similar technique. I had not figured out yet that you can take a regular shaped braid pattern but the technique is the same.
