@myharmony_ I usually create my color palette in the same order that the pattern repeats. The interactive generator here labels the strings in the order that you assign the colors to the pattern, not necessarily in order from left to right alphabetically. I think this also makes it easier to add variations that way because the pattern will be laid out in the same order as the color palette.
The labeled string order at the top doesn't really matter to me as much as having the actual colors in order or grouped together, which may be more apparent in gradient patterns like #36535 or #98331 especially if you add a variation to see the color boxes in a row 🙂
@myharmony_ I don't think the order of the letters is weird: A is the colour of the outlines. B, C, D and E are the colours used. If you look at the preview, there is white, then grey, then orange, then yellow, exactly the same order in which they are lettered. I think the letters make lots of sense even so they are not in the order abc.
