@novaphina just came back to this, and you're absolutely right!! I wanna emphasize on one thing you said: "ignoring race doesn't cause inequality". I have heard people that are close to me say many times, 'isn't the point of lgbtq and blm to treat them like everyone else?' and then say we should ignore their issues in order to treat POC and queer folx like people. That's not the solution at all!! By ignoring the issues in our own society, we're getting nothing done. All we'd be doing is suppressing the voices of the already oppressed. We should be putting voices on pedestals in order to make change, and that's one reason why BLM is so important (: Black lives still matter!! For those of you like me that are in the US, just because of the new year and new president doesn't mean we should be silent. We have to keep fighting and standing in solidarity for what's right. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 |

@novaphina Well said!! If we can't see color, we can't see the patterns. The truth is that there's a higher percentage of colored people being harassed and mistreated than white people, and we need to acknowledge that AND change this pattern. It doesn't mean white people get harassed more, it means we treat those discriminated against better and bring justice to those who need it. Flags are for support and bringing people together under one cause, and this one is a great example. And hey, if you dislike what I'm for, that's alright. We can debate over music and movies and which celebrity is hotter, but you can NOT debate me on human rights and loving your neighbor. There's enough icky things in the world without bringing hatred and discrimination into the mix. Anyway, thank you again @novaphina for your words. It means a lot to see a paragraph of support. And thank you @muffinman for this bracelet. It's easy to make and easy to recognize. |

"I was just wondering why there isn't a pattern for everyone and why we have to group people by race and sexuality," @Trump4ever. I think this is called being colorblind to our differences. Ignoring race doesn't cause equality. Race and discrimination go hand in hand, but we are fighting to create equality for everyone. This does not mean not-poor white cis males will loose rights. I have heard the metaphor if someone is bleeding you don't give everyone a bandaid, just the person who is bleeding. For example because of our differences we all have different experiences. Some people are proud of that and that is why they made their own flags for themselves. People use these flags to share/show support for them. I also wanted to say that use excess police money to create a new force of mental health trained people to help deal with people under the influence of something , or homeless, and especially someone with a mental difference. An image of Police will not help a person in destress and they should be reserved for bank robberies and school shootings, not breaking up a dispute at a bbq. I am always learning and my discussion skills are still developing , so if you have any helpful advice that would be nice @muffinman @Trump4ever Bracelet book is not a place to diss on other people's patterns no matter what your beliefs are. If you have suggestions for a better design that is appropriate. I also think it is good and healthy to have discussions like this as long as it is civil and open minded with facts and science from trusted sources |
