I drew the pattern in excel spreadsheet. You can see from the second photo. I numbered each knot. The numbering helps so much and prevents losing the track. I used a toothpick for the strarting point, in this way I have a straight horizontal line to start.
I have used the two colored method by making this pattern. For the text I used the base strings and for the background I used the leading string. For example: for making a DOT (.) after for example 3 knots I would make 3 forward knots with the leading string then a backward knot with the base string.
