@SARAHMAKH The base strings are hidden in the last and first knot of every row and in the case of the fin, they are hidden in the horizontal row as you make the knots in row 36For the first knot in row 36 forward-backward knot on one base string. For the second knot FB on 2 base strings held together, FB on 3 strings, FB on 4 strings, FB on 5 strings, FB on 6 strings held together. Gently tug on each individual base string while pushing that row of knots up into place. Continue the rest of the row as normal |

@goldflowerHow do you make this pattern? Where did all the base strings go? |

@leoopard Yes, the extra base strings are always hidden in the first and last knot of each row. Do you have the correct amount of base strings on each side? On row 30 you should have 4 extra base strings on the right side so your first knot is on 5 base strings. Did you mean you want the flipper on the left side to stand out more? I suppose you could cut a new base string, fold it in half to add 2 more knots to the flipper. Otherwise I suggest just following the pattern until you get to row 36, then follow my previous comment to make the fin

@goldflower Thanks! In row 30/31 when the fins start showing, do I place the knots with multiple base strings in the edges too? That’s the part I’m struggling with, because my work stays the same width as before row 30, the whale doesn’t have any fins at all. How can I make the fin parts wider?

@leoopard like other shaped patterns the extra base strings are hidden at the edges. What you do for row 36 is instead of making the first 6 knots backwards knots, you make forward-backward knots with the leading string and collect the base strings as you go. You'll also have to tug on each individual base string to remove any slack. An alternative method might be to use the base strings to shape it |

@gemstone7 @0-2037_ Your orcas look great! May I ask how you did them? I have made shaped bracelets before, but here I can’t get the fin to really stand out/expand from the whale’s body. Where did you do the knots over multiple base strings? I did them at the edges, but maybe to the left only or in the middle would be better? Or @goldflower since it's your pattern, maybe you have tips for me? Thx 😊

@Vanity05 yes, you could use the add a variation button to change colors of the whale and the blue strip but you can't change the color of background knots from there
