@Denver yes I would. it is early rock, as can be said a classic rock one. they used/discovered many things such as effects/sounds/instruments that were not known or used in such kind of music. many bands, that you may call to be 'more rock', used those things, often developed them etc. ofc beatles first singles were very rock n roll but while listening to their discography in chronological order, one can see (maybe more hear) how their music changed, developed and become more and more complex. sorry, but I cannot argue on that very matter - The Beatles are definitely a rock band.
