[OFFICIAL] April 2024 Bi-Weekly Challenge, Wks 1 & 2

Hello everyone! 🎉

Thank you very much for joining me these next two weeks 💖💖 I'm so glad to be hosting this Official Bi-Weekly Challenge! 🥳🎊🎉

Whether this your first official challenge, fifth, or fifteenth - welcome! To recieve your rewards, please follow the quick steps below!

🎈 Take a picture of your *completed* bracelet, keychain, bookmark, item, etc.

🤍 Include the word "Challenge" in your photo somewhere (but try not to make it too big or distracting ~ the focus should be on your creation!)

🎀 Upload your photo to the correct pattern.

For each completed item you make, you'll get a reward! ~ example; if you make ten items, you'll get ten rewards. A reward is the little number next to your avatar on your profile!

You can use any color combinations your heart desires! I encourage everyone to try out different color variations 😊 You might find that you like something even more with your own colors!

And now, here are the patterns for this challenge:

Alpha Patterns:

#165862
#56157
#44809
#143707
#60234

Normal Patterns:

#150484
#143250
#166623
#166176
#140395

**This challenge ends on the evening of Sunday, April 14th**

Feel free to start a discussion or to ask me any questions related to this challenge here. Literally everything and anything about this challenge can be discussed in these replies 😊 technique, color decision making, questions, anything 😄

I really can't wait to see everything you make! 🤍 I really love the patterns and I hope you do too!

Thank you to everyone who chooses to participate, and thank you for making BraceletBook a fun place to be!

Happy tying!

Sincerely,

@Tikilishi

Some additional info:

I just wanted to remind everyone that you don't have to use the same colors as the default patterns, you can use literally any colors you want for any of these!

I was in the mood for a pastel themed challenge, but your art doesn't have to be pastel! I highly, highly recommend making variations, because you might find a color scheme that you like much better than the original! New colors can transform a pattern!

Also, while it's encouraged to make an entire bracelet / keychain, you don't actually have to tie the entire pattern! If you're pressed for time but you really want to make something, you can make part of it! It will still count so long as you can still tell what pattern is from, and so long as you follow the steps!

So long as it's challenging for you, that's what matters! 😊

You can even change the orientation of the shapes and it'll still count! For example; if you want the frogs to be a bracelet rather than a bookmark or keychain, you can tie them horizontally so that they go left-to-right instead of up-to-down, if that makes sense!

And one last reminder; you can discuss anything you want about the challenge here!

ok so i know this seems like a weird question but why didn't you post the string count this time? like ive paied attention when other mods like @KrazyKnotz does the challenges and they always seem to post the string count... I'm sorry if this seems rude but like i feel like that would just be standard at this point

Hello @behappy8!

The reason I don't post the string amounts is because personally, at least for my bi-weekly challenges, I don't agree with doing so.

It takes a considerable amount of time and effort for me to select patterns that are unique, appropriately challenging for two weeks, that are varying in difficulty, that I think people may want to tie, that have a low photo count, that are somewhat varying in size, that flow nicely from one to the next, and that also correspond to a theme if I happen to choose one.

And for the creators that make these great designs, it takes them a lot of time and consideration while creating them.

Due to this, I want to make sure that each and every pattern that I have chosen is viewed, and viewed equally. In order to ensure this, it means to exclude the number of strings in the forum post.

I wouldn't want someone to see those numbers, and choose not view certain patterns. One might decide to join an official challenge, with a string amount in mind, but then change their decision once they see an extraordinary design that really speaks to them - that they wouldn't have otherwise seen if they hadn't selected it.

With the amount of time it takes to create and select these designs, it's important to me that each pattern selected is viewed at least one time.

I hope this answers your question, @behappy8, and thank you for your thoughtful question!

That's a really good point... From my perspective, string count can make or break the pattern for me no matter how lovely it is. I happen to spend a lot of time on my academics as well as being an athlete, so I don't always have a lot of spare time to make bracelets (not gonna lie, I should be sleeping right now but I'm taking the time to work on a few left over from spring break 😂) There are some points in my year where making a 24-34 string bracelet just isn't an option, whether it's exams or a season switch (I do school sports) But I guess thinking that a lot of the users on this site are in middle/high school (at least the ones I seem to come across the most) I feel like it would be nice to choose a bit smaller patterns maybe or add string counts at least during the school year to make challenges more accessible, with the time I spend looking through the patterns to find one in a size I like but that's also doable in the 2-4 week timeframe is time that could be spent pulling colors or cutting strings. I don't know what you guys think about this but I mean it's always something to take into consideration.

I can completely understand that perspective, as someone who is also busy myself. 🙂 That is why, during official challenges, we do not require the entire bracelet to be tied. If someone wants to take on a larger pattern and just make a smaller version of it, that is perfectly acceptable and allowed.

It takes about 1 to 2 minutes to view each pattern individually and to read the string amount at the top of the page. I think it's a small price to pay as opposed to potentially missing out on an amazing pattern one wouldn't get to see otherwise 🙂

Especially that larger patterns tend to be tied least often anyhow, I think every pattern in an official challenge deserves to at least be seen just once. @behappy8

Ooooh, so fun!! I've never done a challenge. So just to be clear, for the pattern #165862 with the bows, I could just do one bow, post the picture with the challenge and it'd count? 😊 Without doing the whole thing with all four bows? I think it'd be such a cute little keychain!
