I would say get at least 5 bracelets ready. And what is the problem that your parents have with starting the Etsy shop?

@Ciao it’s not really my dad (he doesn’t think it’s a big deal) but my mom. she thinks it’s too much work and that i won’t commit to it.

@plant-dad Tell your mom that if you can't keep up with it you can always shut it down, or put it on vacation mode (you will be able to complete orders, and you will not be able to get any new ones). You can also just make your "Ship-by" date a week or two, or not do custom orders, so you won't end up getting stressed. Also, would you like some tips to get your shop started? There are a lot of things I wish I knew before starting.

I have been creating bracelets since March for Etsy and only planning on making it early August...(part of this was that I am switching bank accounts so I had to wait). I have made around 70 bracelets so far with hours upon hours of knotting so I would suggest you make 20 bracelets and put 5-10 listings up (:

@plant-dad Most of the things are very easy to get the hang of, so don't worry. First of all, use search engine optimization (SEO). Use it in your titles, description, About Me, and Bio to get the most amount of people to your shop/listings. I'm not the best explainer, but basically, you just add as many keywords as possible. For example, if you make a blue chevron, instead of saying "Blue Chevron", I would do, "Blue Chevron Bracelet Anklet Adjustable Thread/String Friendship Bracelet" I suggest doing a little bit of your own research on it, but that is the basics.FILL OUT YOUR SHOP POLICIES!!!!!! Or else your shop won't be seen at all! Etsy will not put it on the search results! FILL OUT YOUR SHOP POLICIES! Actually, fill out EVERYTHING!!! Etsy will be more likely to put a shop or listing higher in the search results if they have a more filled out shop than someone else. If you have any other questions, please let me know! You can message me, or tag me on here 😄 Sorry if that last part came off as mean, it's just very important. It is basically the difference between my friend's shop (0 sales) and mine (70+ sales) |

@Ciao (you might want to stand back) OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! (i’m sorry for the aggressive thank you 😅) i’ll definitely message you if i have questions. sometime today i was actually planning on asking my parents about the shop again, so i hope that goes well. i’ll also make sure to check out you shop! i hope you get even more sales!! (if you don’t mind saying it, about how much money have you made while selling on etsy?)

@plant-dad To add on to what Clairaland was saying. Tell your mom you will learn professionalism, customer service, marketing, and how to manage your time and money. Also, you are basically just making money off of something you would already be doing anyway. Just a little bit of extra time with photos, making the listing, and sending it. You get skills that will help you to get a job and money $_$

@plant-dad I'm a bit late for this but I usually have ten to eight bracelets set up for sale immediately. You should also have a custom made section for basic patterns like candy stripes and chevron. And when it comes to charging for bracelets, choose what you think is fair based off the pattern, thread, and amount of effort put into it.

How to convince your mom: Just tell your mom that you will give her some of the money that you make from selling the bracelets and then she will let you!! ( but then you only give her a dime) 🙂

@ilovequeen that sounds really harsh but pretty funny. My mom let me open mine since I'm giving some of the money to charities each month if I make any sales
