I heard metallic thread is really annoying to work with because the knots don’t stay put very well and the string becomes really frayed

I have dmc metallic thread but I am yet to use it. However, I have used other metallic thread. It is different than sparkly thread obviously. Metallic thread does fray at the ends very very easily. What I do is I make a knot at the end of the thread to keep it from fraying. It is definitely not the easiest thread to work with but you'll get the hang of it. Also, if you don't make your knots tight enough, the metallic string doesn't like being as tight as regular thread, it will warp your bracelet. So I would say go for it, but don't expect it to be perfect. It is 100% a learning curve. It does look super cool though, even if it is a little warped.

I use Regular DMC thread for most of my bracelets. It's the only thread available at my local shop. The Metallic DMC thread is hard to use because if you pull on it too hard when you pull your knot up, it will snap. (I know this from experience.) I would not recommend DMC metallic thread or any metallic thread for beginners, because it honestly is a pain to work with. The metallic DMC thread doesn't feel very nice either. It's not soft, it's the opposite.

Yes I have and it does separate really easy so just tie the end of the string to prevent that

I almost bought some from michaels yesterday, so I’m glad I read this first. Also has anyone tried the dmc multicolored thread? I’ve been pretty hesitant to buy it.

@nev_m_07 I actually just bought some dmc multicolour thread to and I think it’s just the same as regular dmc thread if you tried that.
