I haven’t watched much ( I really got into anime September or October of last year) but I would strongly suggest Snow White with the Red Hair (Hulu) Ouran high school host club (Netflix and Hulu) or the disastrous life of saiki k (Netflix)

I personally don't watch that much anime (I have seen a few that I love) but I live with total anime nerds so I know quite a bit about it. There are a lot of different types of animes so understanding the type you want to watch is very important. Netflix and Hulu have an okay anime selection but most of the time they don't have all of the episodes available and you can only watch it all on Crunchyroll. There is anime out there for everyone and also anime out there that is not appropriate at all. Anime is such a broad category that its actually confusing. So I would research the types of animes and understand what kind you want to watch to be able to narrow down what shows to start. As for people judging and trolling you, just ignore it. As an adult I have literally never heard anything bad about it, only when I was in school still.
