Shaped Alpha keychains ??

I'm kinda new here so first of all, I wanna say hi lol. Also, I saw on one post where someone made a keychain of an alpha pattern (I can't recall which one sorry) and instead of the traditional square shape I've commonly seen on basically all designs, this one was made to be shaped like the object portrayed itself. I thought it was hecka cool and wanted to try it out. Would I just make the design but instead not weave the background and cut the excess off later? Any tips would be great and also have a great day (night)! <3

I think so. There is a tutorial though I can’t find it right now, but I think they just didn’t do the background, cut the string in the end, then glued it to the back.
