On BraceletBook as well as the rest of the world, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, so I just wanted to clarify a few things that i’ve been seeing. 1) BLM is not a violent movement, it was created to acknowledge the violence happening against black people. There have been some riots recently that haven’t made the movement look good, but it does seem to be the only way to get people’s attention, because people have been peacefully protesting for YEARS with no results. A lot/most of the violence that has started at protests have been started by white “allies” and police officers. Black people know that rioting will make them look bad to some people and for that reason encourage white people to not riot at peaceful protests. 2) ACAB doesn’t target any specific cops. ACAB or All Cops Are Bastards has been a common acronym recently and people don’t seem to understand it fully. The law in America is extremely corrupt and unjust, meaning it has been bastardized. Police only benefit and profit when the law is bended, as long as they are benefiting from these bastardized laws, the police are also bastardized. The phrase is All Cops Are Bastards, not All Cops Are Bad People. 3) The difference between BLM patterns and thin blue line/other conservative patterns. BLM is a completely safe and non-violent movement, blue lives matter has been created to degrade the people who support BLM. Although the “thin blue line” flag which is seen in many patterns on BB was made before the BLM movement was made, it has only become popular again because of the blue lives matter movement. 4) Arguing with each other will get you pretty much nowhere. Although it’s tempting to fight with a conservative all day, neither of you will be able to change your opinions. Rather than arguing with no resolution, offer resources to the person you’re arguing with, articles, videos, etc. I will try not to argue with people in the comments of this post, so I recommend you don’t either, as tempting as it may seem. 5) Resources. If you want me to send any articles, videos, evidence of what I just posted, I will gladly send it to you. I will also send you links to petitions and places to donate if you want. Comment below if you want me to message you with anything, and I’d also prefer you message me with any of your disagreements instead of posting them in the comments (trust me, making comments contradicting what I’ve said will probably only make you feel embarrassed.) 6) Ways to help. If you want to help the BLM movement, research, sign petitions, donate, learn about how to actively be anti-racist, etc. I want everyone who sees this to sign at least 3 petitions benefiting the BLM movement right now. If you can’t find any, I can message you with some that have yet to reach their goal. |

Also! About bringing politics into BB, I’d rather prioritize human rights over keeping the website “happy.” Avoiding pressing issues isn’t beneficial to the community.

I totally agree with number two. the “good” cops aren’t doing anything. And that’s the problem. They stand by and watch the bad cops abuse their power and don’t turn them in. This is what makes them bad as well.

@_haileyom_ Exactly! BLM is a movement, not meant to be political, and we shouldn't congratulate cops for doing nothing, nor for doing the bare minimum.

periodt! i said this in the comments of a blue lives matter pattern, but i don't respect blue lives matter people because there comes a point where opinions are no longer opinions because of how the affect other people. there are people being killed and hurt because of racism so yeah i'm not gonna respect your "opinion" if you support a racist or support a racist system.
