I agree everyone’s lives matter even the police they put themselves in danger to protect the country it none of this should be offensive it’s just a movement to create the necessary change in the world to make the world a better safer place

Yes but if one or two people are offended and there’s at least 200,000 people on the site why is it such a big deal it’s people using a calmer way of protests and showing what they believe

I'm sorry if some of you find that offensive, but I really don't see what's so offensive about those types of patterns. Yes, I understand that there are police officers who are doing wrong, but it's wrong to label ALL of them that way. As the daughter of a police officer, I know that there are some that abuse their power, but I also know that there are many out there like my father who are trying to stop crime and do their jobs. I know that there are a lot of people who don't like cops, but I am proud of what my father does. He protects lots of people and it really gets me when people say that the back the blue thing is offensive. I really don't understand what is offensive about supporting the police officers that are being wrongly labeled. I support the police officers that are keeping my community safe, and I also support the victims of bad ones.

for everyone confused about why the blue lives matter pattern is an issue: people aren't saying all cops are bad/bastards(acab). we're saying that the police system has been built because of racist ideas, and it needs to stop. no, we're not saying your dad, uncle, auntie, etc. is a bastard. we're saying that the very idea of the police system is horrible and needs to stop. it was built after slavery ended to keep black people 'in line' and has since been used unfairly, with black people and other poc. it's a form of racism that is very prevalent everywhere in america, which is also something build on racist ideas and needs to be reworked. it's not your family members , friends, or yourselves that are causing all of the grief in america right now, and all of the grief before it. not all people who are cops are bad, but every person who believes cops truly help and protect everyone needs to rethink their beliefs.

I honestly don’t think it should be taken down bc there’s a lot of black lives matter bracelet patterns and nobody is asking for those to be taken down and everyone’s beliefs are different and I think the pattern should stay up.

@poplianna i personally do not support blue lives matter at all, but i wouldn't normally have a problem with it. however, with everything going on in the world it's pretty clear that it's being posted to counter black lives matter and i have seen some extremely racist people in the comments of police patterns.

@caspian yes! exactly! the difference between this and black lives matter is that black lives matter was created because of racism and black people not being valued and treated equally. blue lives matter is a counter movement only brought up when black people are unjustly murdered by police.

Blue lives matter was started bc they thought that killing a police officer is a hate crime and that is what people who kill police firemen and emt workers should go to court for it was created bc 2 nypd officers were killed durring a black lives matter protest that is where the misunderstanding comes from. I don’t want to be mean or anything but I want to correct the wrong meaning of this symbol and I’m not gonna be mad if it still offends you but share this because this is the truth.

Yes I do believe the system needs to be reworked but we can’t just get rid of it if we get rid of it the country will be in anarchy and things have changed the police exist for a different reason now but there are many racist people out there who need to just stop racism is bad and all people should be treated equally but if we get rid of the police then the world is gonna be a lot worse of a place

@poplianna the origins of that flag didn't come from a bad place. you're right that it wasn't originally created to spread hate, but that's what it's being used for now. obviously i don't know what's going on in every creator's mind, but based on the comments and stuff like that i have a feeling all these patterns are being created now because of black lives matter. as i said, if it were posted at any other time i wouldn't care, i'd probably ignore it and move on. but in recent months the killings of george floyd, breonna taylor, david mcatee; and less recent cases in which the officer is allowed to walk free such as antwon rose. police have been tear gassing and shooting rubber bullets at peaceful protesters. in my state there was a video of an officer using almost the same chokehold as derek chauvman (the man he was using it on didn't die but he had to go to the ER) i don't understand how someone can support police officers after knowing all of this. they might not all be terrible people but they don't deserve to be rewarded for not being racist murderers.
