Is it fair if somebody rated your pattern one star just because they were mad you rated one of theirs one star even those theirs weren’t the greatest and you were being truthful but they were just rating yours one star because you did to them?

If you rate a pattern one star then you are basically rating it 0-20% , which isn't very encouraging. If you think the colour choice is bad then do a variation to what you think it could be and if you think the pattern could be improved then you could say in the comments or dm them so the creator knows for future patterns. But it was wrong of them to rate 1 star back. It would be more helpful for you to rate a pattern 3/4stars with an explanation then to rate a pattern 1 star and not saying anything. Also remember that the higher rating can make more people see the pattern because it can go on the hottest pattterns section. I hope this helps 🙂

Honestly the thing I can’t stand is how low a 1 star rating is. It drags down the entire rating and it’s just sad.

Just out of curiosity, what # is it? Yeah also what I do is I just try to stay away from rating patterns unless I like them. This helps others, and they might go to your profile and rate your patterns too. Of course it's your right not to like a pattern, but maybe tell them why you don't like it, so they can change that in their next pattern. Hope this made sense!😊

@myong yes it was pattern 42410 (@AwesomeGrl) and I did ask why they rated it one star and their reason was that because I rated it one star that they decided to rate mine one star. And @CoolKnot unfortunately it does bring down the rating too much and some patterns aren’t the best people expect everyone to rate everyone pattern 3 stars or up and I have respect for those who go looking for feedback on their ratings on how to improve the pattern.

@knottahti thank goodness as much as I like some patterns I don't like all patterns and just because I rated one pattern one star made that person rate all of mine 1 is rediculous.

think about it this way..... the person who created that pattern was probably offended that you rated their pattern 1 star. in response they rated your patterns 1 star. which in turn made you offended. you and the other user want support and encouragement for your patterns and rating a pattern 1 star offers the opposite. of course you have a right to hold your own opinion. but there are other options that would have prevented this situation. you said that you didn’t like the colors? change them up with a variation. offer constructive criticism. or just skip over the pattern. no pattern deserves a 1 star rating unless the pattern is morally wrong and offensive. i totally get that it isn’t fair for the other person to rate all your patterns 1 star as “revenge” i guess in response to you rating their pattern 1 star. but it wasn’t really fair of you either to rate their pattern 1 star. this is exactly why the rating system should go away. the admin is implementing a like based system to replace the rating system which i hope will prevent situations like these. but until then, just refrain from rating patterns 1 star even if you don’t like the pattern. i think if you do that, you won’t experience this situation again 🙂

also next time when rating try to think of the effort, skill, and time put into making the pattern. sometimes people can take pattern rating personally because they can interpret bad ratings as a direct attack on all their hard work, which is almost never the intent. even if you don't like the pattern or colors, you can still recognize the time and effort put into making a pattern that they really enjoy.

I normally don’t rate patterns. If you don’t like the pattern don’t rate it. When you see your pattern got one star, it really doesn’t matter. Sure it may come lower on the list when you look up patterns by highest rating. Someone out probably lives your pattern. Ratings are just a label saying someone didn’t like it. It’s your opinion that counts. But if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it.
