This seem like an odd question don’t answer if you don’t want to I was just wondering. I myself live with a ringing in my ears and potential hearing loss.

Theres such thing as ringing after exposure to loud noises that are temporary and non damaging/go away but for me it doesn't consider yourself lucky that you can hear silence.... I can't... I haven't.... not for a whole year 😇

I have hearing and vision loss and both are a pain! I can't see anything a few feet ahead of me without glasses and I have hearing loss but don't want the aids because of how bulky they are. The vision loss is hereditary and the hearing problems came from infections as a baby. It's alright though, the vision can be corrected and I've adapted with the hearing loss! @2006_Mandy

I tried reading my own comment without glasses and it looks like ancient runes 😂

@Carina_C not trying to be rude, but does hearing loss mean you can't hear anything?

Sometimes when it's silent it's not really silent for me and I hear a buzzing/ringing noise. It's pretty quiet though and I've learn to put up with it. I think it's starting to get less though.

@AwesomeGrl hearing loss varies. It's almost never going from 'perfect hearing' to 'silence', but more of a scale. Hearing loss is measured in decibels. For example, whispering is around 30dB. You can have a mild hearing loss (of 25-40dB), so you're not able to hear someone whisper, but you can hear & understand them talking in a quiet environment. Then there's moderate hearing loss, severe and profound

Thank you @Sheva for the explanation. @AwesomeGrl I have a mild hearing loss so I can hear louder speech. Whispering and someone speaking to me normally I have a hard time picking up on. I don't mind it though. I learned to read lips and I usually know what people say. You just had a question and it wasn't rude at all, don't be afraid to ask if you're confused.

@AwesomeGrl it’s awesome that you have learned to live with it. Although not too awesome it have quiet ringing. And @Carina_C I pray that one day your hearing will be better. For me all I could ever wish for is to hear better and hear silence for once. And it’s pretty encouraging or know that people learn to live with these things because it’s hard especially for people who experience a louder ringing in the ears like I do.

@2006_Mandy I hope you find a way to cope or rid yourself of the form of tinnitus you have too. I think that living in constant noise your whole life might be worse than silence. I couldn't imagine always hearing a loud ringing or buzzing noise with no real cure in sight.

@Carina_C living life without no sense of silence is hard. And its harder to know that we can't really do anythign about it. Hopefully a cure someday is found and until then I just hope that not too many will ever experience the pain that I do when I try to sleep with a constant ringing. Nobody should ever have to have this pain and so hopefully people learn to not take silence for granted and to be careful with exposure of loud noises to prevent hearing loss and tinnitus. 🙂 😇
