Hello! I know a lot of you sell your bracelets and I have some questions. Can someone explain the rules about what patterns you can use and what patterns you can't? I'm confused because after a bracelet youtuber got a copyright strike on her channel from using a patterns in tutorials, an admin from friendship-bracelets said based on their TOU that isn't allowed? Braceletbook and friendship-bracelets seem to have basically the same rule about copyright: original patterns belong to the uploader/creator but the site can use their patterns to advertise. Then do shop owners ask the uploader of a pattern before posting a listing? Do you put credit somewhere in the description of the listing? When shops have a custom listing where they'll make whatever pattern you want, do they have to track down and get permission from the creator of the pattern the customer sends them? What about patterns that are posted on both sites by different users? Idk if I'm being overly cautious or what but I'm confused and I'm hoping someone with experience could clarify things for me. Thank you. |

I started selling bracelets that I posted a pic of on the site, but I don't give credit to the person that created the pattern. As long as you made the bracelet, its yours and you get to decide what to do with it. Tbh, its no different then selling something at a yardsale. Although I wouldn't post the bracelet and say its a one of a kind or anything like that........ you should be fine though.

Also, that youtuber probably got in trouble bc they didn't post a link to where the pattern came from so it seemed like they were trying to take credit for it

I don’t sell them but I imagine that it’s perfectly fine to sell the bracelet as long as your not trying to claim it was your idea or you created the pattern.

Exactly, @allierae54 is right. Once you make a bracelet it’s yours and you can sell it

i think it’s fine to sell patterns regardless, but you should probably just doublecheck and message the creator if they’re active

one thing many people do is simply include the pattern number in the listing, if you want to be careful! then the pattern can easily be traced back to the original creator

The pattern is their art, but once you make the bracelet it becomes your art..
