Hey y’all, I just bought a new thing of embroidery floss and am always at a loss for the cost of it.
Where do y’all get your thread and what’s the cost normally?

I get my thread from a store called spotlight, I always use DMC thread. They each cost about $1.50 for one skein of thread.

I get mine from craft stores and I also usually use dmc bc of the quality. They’re about 70cents per skein where I live. i get packs of white and black thread from amazon.

I get mine from Michaels and for thread that isn't sparkly, metallic, or multicolored, it's about 69 cents per skein.

I usually get my DMC floss from a local yarn store for $1.49 (6 for 10$) and more recently at Michaels I got 36 skeins for 7 dollars, and DMC there is usually 70 cents.

I recently got a brand called Moyyon. I really like it and it wasn’t expensive. I also usually get loops and threads from Michaels because it comes in large packs, and it isn’t very expensive either.

I was used to using DMC, except i was running out of thread and didn't want to buy more since i'm low-key broke and DMC floss is EXPENSIVE. So i found this random stuff on Amazon, $13 for 100 different colors plus 15 white and 15 black. It is super good, only real difference besides it and DMC is it is a bit thicker. Also the brand was called Vivoci i think... wait here's the link

I use shein, I know it's really bad and unethical but It's just so expensive otherwise! I tend to bulk order so I can get 5-6 months if not more out of one order to try and limit my interaction with them.
The prices are SO low ( a red flag for so many things I know but like I said, I'm not made of money) and you can get months worth of skeins for around a fiver (UK). I don't like to support Amazon or HobbyCraft ect either as their suppliers tend to be the same as shein tbh. Sometimes you can get a good deal on ebay or wholesale craft shops but they're definitely harder to find. If anyone has any uk based ideas for more ethical suppliers I would really appreciate it! : )

Hey! It depends where you are located, if it’s online or in store etc and brands. It is usually cheaper to buy in bulk than single skeins. I get packs from Michael’s, Walmart, even dollar stores sometimes. I also check Facebook marketplace to see if anyone in my area is selling their unused/ slightly used supplies. Amazon, AliExpress, and other online retailers are also options
