ok....i knot and am good enough to sell my stuff. And i have a few friends who already do business and who would sell my creations for me. And i get a cut out of it. i get to decide prices with them. so, to pple who sell their creations, i have a bunch of questions

How do you decide prices?

How to knot faster?

how to you decide which patterns to make?

do you do custom orders? how to set prices for them?

plus i'm in high school and any tips on to balance both would be great. pls help guys.

I don't sell, but here are my answers to your questions:

How do you decide prices?
It makes sense to consider the time you spend tying and the material cost. Not everyone would be willing to pay you for your time spend, but you at least need to cover the material costs.

How to knot faster?
Segment knotting instead of knotting row by row
Lots of practice
Patterns that don't have many strings
Patterns that are easy to segment-knot
Normals instead of alphas

how to you decide which patterns to make?
I would go for patterns that are generally popular, that don't have too many strings and that are easy to segment knot

do you do custom orders? how to set prices for them?
I would again consider time and material cost

plus i'm in high school and any tips on to balance both would be great. pls help guys.
You can potentially knot during class, if it's a class where you mainly need to listen
You can knot on your way to and from school, if you are taking the bus or someone is driving you
You can tie while watching TV

okay so right now ive never actually sold bracelets but i will this summer. itll probably be a small stand in a park or somewhere so i really think the prices range based on where youre selling and how. i go around asking people what they would pay for this, for that... then i will put the middle price of 'em all. then i also ask if they ever bought bracelets like those and for what price. also it depends on the string. some cost less and some more. the bigger and more complicated the bracelet, bigger prices. a bracelet may be only 8 strings but a complicated design so it takes more time. it definitely should cost more than a simple chevron. so try to go around and see what people would pay and adjust it to each bracelet!

Oops sorry 😂 I forgot when I press enter it posts it. So this might look a little long. PRICE: I kinda just winged it (wung it?). At first I had them priced kinda low, and then I had encouragement to price them higher (plus I wasn’t making things fast enough to how fast they were selling, so a higher price helped me catch up) so just pick a price, you can always adjust it (: FASTER: practice, but also just spending a lot of time knitting 😂 I’m not toooo fast, but I do it often. For example if you’re gonna watch a movie, consider knotting while you watch. PATTERNS: I try and make patterns that are cute, generally popular (like for example instead of making a keychain of a specific instrument, consider a music knot instead since that could appeal to more people). But also I just do patterns that I genuinely WANT to make. I’ve found if I don’t really like the pattern myself, I’ll procrastinate making it and I’ll end up getting nothing done 😂 Another tip (this is mostly for if you’re selling IRL) but match it to the town/state/business. For example one place I’m selling has kind of a space/alien theme, so I made an alien keychain and it was sold shortly after. CUSTOM: I’ve done very few, I generally price them the same as everything else if I’m not going TOO much out of my way. TIPS: I’m homeschooled so that doesn’t take up a lot of my time, but I do have a job. One thing I try and do is to nooooot waste my off days 😂 So if I can finish three keychains on Saturday, I don’t have to sweat it if I’m too tired after work on Monday to do anything 😂 Hopefully some of this helps you 😆🙏🏼
