Hi! So, my parents are very strict about what I read, so I really just want some help finding some good ones that are appropriate. Also, my sister also likes book suggestions too! (She doesn't have braceletbook) she has the same rules as me, but she loves Star wars. She is working on reading some of the Nancy Drew books. Tia! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

What are the rules/out of bounds genres/tropes?

@minutcraft hmm... I don’t think they rlly care about what genres, as long as it’s not inappropriate, “stupid”(well sounds stupid yk?). I’m not allowed to read Harry Potter because of the witchcraft but I am still allowed to read some books with like

I can guess, though if you ask me, the ‘witchcraft’ in Harry Potter is basically just magic. ‘Witchcraft’ only appears in the full name of Hogwarts. 😆 But maybe they just don’t like that there are incantations that make the magic happen rather than things just happening for ‘no reason’.

I’m going to assume your parents are ok with the Narnia series and Lord of the Rings, so there are those for series with magic in them. If they’re the kind that prefer Christian fiction, there’s also the Seven Sleepers series and the Left Behind series

Other popular series are the Percy Jackson series, the Series of Unfortunate Events, Hunger Games…

If you’re into mystery solving books (with little to no gore), definitely check out Agatha Christie and any title from the British Crime Library aeries.

@minutcraft tysm! Yes, I'm allowed to read Narnia(which I'm actually reading rn for a online class) and I'm also allowed to read Lord of the Rings. I will definitely try to find those other series u suggested at the library! 😊

You should read salt to the sea by Ruta Sepetys. It’s the first book I’ve read in a while and I absolutely loved it, it’s easy to read and I didn’t want to put it down. You’ll get rlly attached to the characters and u should be allowed to read, it’s based on a true story from the Second World War. I highly recommend :]

Are you allowed to read books with magical animals like dragons?

I will say, there is a book called Matched that is a trilogy, I've only read the first, um The Hunger Games is good idk if you can read that though, Greetings from Witness Protection is good, but unlike the ones I just listed, it's more PG-13.

It's not innapropriate (in my opinion) it just deals with a slightly darker theme.

So idk if these are appropriate or not but they are in my middle school library and I read them in 6th grade and I was fine. The Legend series is rly good. Also the Ascendance trilogy ( first book is The False Prince) and The 100 series is also good but idk if that’s appropriate bc the tv show is TV-14. Out of all of those the ascendance trilogy is the most appropriate. Maybe u could try telling your parents “it was In a middle school library so it has to be appropriate” and then maybe you could read The Program.

Oh also a good long series is Keeper of the Lost Cities and that is very appropriate but good at the same time.

First off, I want to thank @minutcraft @Denver @Everspark @rebbibbi @Firecorn @sftball011 for y'all's suggestions! @ArtsyAnna yes, I can read books with dragons and stuff like that. I think the only reason I can't read/watch Harry Potter is because of the whitchcraft (Like I already mentioned) and because of the Author.

Of all the books about dragons I’ve read, I probably love Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Riders of Pern series the most. Another author you might want to check out is Tamora Pierce.
