and maybe try asking other lgbt members at your school who have or had that teacher and see what their experience was like

i wrote my 1st,3rd,4th, and 5th hour teachers letters saying something along the lines ofhey mr/s ... in class if you would refer to me with they/them pronouns and call me Jay that would be appreciated however i have had some problems with bullying so i you would mind 1 not saying anything to my parents that would be appreciated and 2 not making some huge announcement about it in class that would be appreciated Jay |

I've had problems with only one of teachers where the problems were homophobic. The other problems are just the teacher slipping up and then correcting themselves. Execpt for my ceramics teacher their really great about pronouns and names and such. That might just be because they know what its like to be misgendered and have incorrect pronouns used for them. Now my choir teacher he had such an issue with me being genderfluid and open about it that he kicked me permantly out of choir and when asked why he kicked me out refused to tell a straight answer. And then after I was kicked out and someone correct him on my gender and pronouns for me. He proceded to tell the entire choir that unless my school papers state that I am legally a she or a they he will only use what he was told by the "authorities". Now correct me if I'm wrong, I am just a teenage boy who appartenly doesn't know their own pronouns, but isn't my decision what pronouns I want to use and what I want others to use. Sorry for the rant my step-mum is homophobic so I have nobody to rant to becuase apparently the one dad of mine I still live with is homophobic as well even though my dads (yes plural. Deal with it) I thought were gayer than I am but whatever. |

You can always send them an email saying how you feel. But I’ve had experience talking to teachers about other personal things. If you are honest with them, they will mostly likely want to help. Hope it goes well.
