Hello! Happy thanksgiving all! I was having this thought the other night. So to start, I make paracord dog collars occasionally. Normally like only for special requests. I was wondering if anyone has ever considered making a dog collar out of friendship bracelets? Do you think they would be strong enough? |

I think the best way to do this so you know it's save would be sewing a friendship bracelet to a regular dog collar. I think you could also make one just from friendship bracelet, but in that case you have to consider that - it is wide enough (a too thin one would probably not be very secure - it is not too stretchy because in that case the dog could slip out |

I’m going to have to try this! I do like the idea of seeing onto a collar

@cloudtiger make one if I'm not mistaken! I saw it in the "Photo" section some time ago. It might be worth asking them if they are open to talking about their experiences with making dog collars and how the quality is? 😊

@serramae I made a dog collar for pattern 65716 and it came out pretty sturdy. I personally only made mine as a decorative dog collar, similar to a bandana, which is what I recommend since as sturdy as it was my dog is quit the puller!! But I tried adding a metal circular piece through the collar so that you could attach a leash to it and it seemed to work fine! However I only recommend doing that for a dog who is calm on leash since you don’t want to risk your dog running loss. I have more pictures of how it turned out on my Instagram or Etsy both are @infinityknotsshop

I was going to make one for my cousins dog, but we didn’t think it’d be strong enough on it’s own, like @halokiwi said, sewing it onto a typical collar would work, I think I attached it to a paracord collar that my cousin made, but it got messed up pretty quick, but that dog is like 2 years old, so not sure how much was the collar, and how much was the dog 😂

I do this! I usually make three long bracelets and then braid them together and I just put a key ring to clip a leash on with. Usually I just slide it on or do I add clasps.

Also, my dog isn’t really rough, so this works for me. If your dog tugs a lot, this might not work.
