Did y’all like Cato? The first time I read the book and watched the movie I hated him, but I just reread the book and I feel so bad for him.

Nah. I mean at the beginning of the book he did everything he did with his own accord, including willing to do ANYTHING to win the Hunger Games, and he had fun with that. It also doesn't help that he was one of the Careers, and they're always kind of ruthless when it comes to the Games. I think it was only at the end that you saw that he was being manipulated by the Capitol and that explains that whole end scene. But still Cato was just straight up mean for most of the book and I definitely wouldn't give him a redemption arc. But yeah everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this is mine.

Not really. But I feel bad for all of the contestants in the games because they are basically being forced to have an early demise because of the hunger games. Like imagine how many families would be torn apart. But I don’t really like him, more sympathy

I think that Cato cared way to much about being honorable and famous to think about the way being a tribute would effect others. So while he was a horrible person in the games he was just another tribute who was scared of death and fighting for their life.

i honestly feel really bad for him. i feel like the careers were just brainwashed into thinking the hunger games were a positive thing.

I don't like him, I mean he didn't do anything likeable over the course of the book. But even though I didn't like him, I still feel bad for him because, as was already mentioned, I agree that the tributes (specifically the Careers) were brainwashed into seeing the Hunger Games as a good thing. Also he died in a pretty horrible way.
