@SusuKnots I'm glad we have similar book "tastes?" Keeper of the Lost Cities isn't a YA romantic level. It's sometimes YA in some parts, but otherwise the romance doesn't go past ogling and staring and kissing. There's no...content that's "TOO ROMANTIC" as, I wouldn't have read it then. I haven't been able to thank you yet for suggesting the Ascendancy series but thank you! I was so excited to read it, and it was as good as I guessed it was. If you're reading YA have you read, Eragon ( up to 800 pages, but good) and Skyward? They're both good YA books.

@SusuKnots one day..I'll read the Traitor's game by Jennifer A Nielson. Maybe in a few years or so..or one or two..she's a great author, but if a book literally mentions love in the summary, that means there might be a lot..
She's an amazing author!!!!

@Yoonhee Okay I will definitely read Brother's Keeper (if i'm allowed to)! I'm not allowed to read keeper of the lost cities, my friend really likes it, but I asked my mom if I could read it and she read the first book of the series then said no 😭

@fox618 No problem I love giving people book recommendations! I'm not allowed to read keeper of the lost cities, my mom even read the whole first book to check... she cares more about how much romance there is than what kind of romance there is if that makes sense (I've read a book that went past kissing before, but it was only mentioned like once in the book, but I wasn't allowed to read a book that only had kissing, just it was a lot of it if that makes sense)

@fox618 okay so here's more detailed explainations about what my favorite books are about:

Scythe, by Neal Shusterman, and the rest of the series (The Thunderhead and The Toll). It's a book about the future, when technology has gotten so good and doctors have gotten so advance, people don't die anymore. They just turn back their age so they're younger, and if they die in like a car accident or something, they can get revived. So the government has a group of people called scythes, and their job is to assassinate people so the world's population doesn't get out of control. It's kinda violent, 8/10, and there is some romance... There's not a lot in the first book or the third book but in the second book it goes beyond kissing for two characters, but they're not the main characters, there's only like 2 pages of that.

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. It's about a school where there are monsters, and you have to learn how to fight them using magic. Not all the kids survive because of the monsters. The bigger monsters eat the smaller monsters and the smaller monsters eat each other and some of the students, while they wait for the oldest class to graduate. You graduate by having to go down to the bottom floor and fighting your way out of a group of HUGE monsters. But then one day this person comes along called Orion, and he goes around saving everybody. He kills all the smaller monsters, but then the bigger monsters are starving, and they're running out of food because normally half the people are dead by that point, but they're not because Orion saved them, so there's not enough food. And the main character is awesome and sarcastic and it's funny. There's some romance though, not that much, and not a lot of violence

The Blackthorn Key series by Kevin Sands (The Blackthorn Key, Mark of the Plague, The Assassin's Curse, Call of the Wraith) it's about a boy who is training to be an apothecary (there's a lot of explosions in this book by the way) and his friend Tom, who's a baker's apprentice. Then they get into a lot of adventures, the first book is about how there's a group of people killing apothecaries, and then they try to figure out who. I explained it very badly, but you should definitely try it. It's also an 8/10 in terms of violence, there's a tiny bit of romance but like not at all as far as I remember nobody even kisses, so yeah.

Sal and Gabi Break the Universe and Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe, by Carlos Hernandez. I don't know how to explain it, but it's very funny, there's no romance and no violence.

You might like Wings Of fire, Warriors, and Bravelands its Fantasyish with a lot of violence though. But around the 12+ range but is not inappropriately romantic. For me I did not like the 1st arc of Wings of Fire but book 6-14 were pretty good. I like Fantasy and Middle Grade, and occasionally Scu-Fi! I read a book called Skyward that was really interesting!

Some books I really like are what happened to goodbye, a very large expanse of sea, they both die in the end, we were liars, and the fault in our stars, all of which are romance novels except maybe we were liars, depending on what you consider overly romantic. The majority of the books I read are romance lol, but also they are all realistic fiction
