so my grandfather has alzheimer's, and me my siblings and my parents live with him to help my grandmother take care of him. but the thing is it gets really frustrating sometimes. whenever he goes for walks, someone has to follow him (usually me) to make sure he doesnt get lost. he also messes up all the stuff in the kitchen so i can never find anything, and he'll walk into my room and talk about how messy it is... i know it isnt his fault and i dont blame him but does anybody know how i can not get frustrated with him? and he also doesnt remember me half the time and thinks im my mom when she was younger

Just take it slow, try not to get yourself too frustrated, and keep reminding yourself that he’s going through something that’s probably really tough for him, as well as ur family. So just keep ur thoughts positive and remind yourself that he’s in a hard time, so just lighten up ur mood. Hope this helped 😊

I had to start thinking differently when I got really frustrated with a girl who had a syndrome or something, and she didn’t exactly understand certain things (I’m not saying this in a mean way. I’m just not sure how else to say it) and what I did was tell myself that she can’t help thinking or being the way she is. She’s beautiful and God made her. I was the issue, not so much her. Try to do the same with him. Tell yourself that he can’t help it.

And not in a mean way, but like, sometimes, stuff like that can really change people. He doesn’t mean to be rude or unkind, he doesn’t want to get lost. It’s just how he is, and you have to live with that sometimes! 😊 try to take it slow, one day and at a time.

@GenMalucci yeah i'm not frustrated with him, ik it must be very hard for him to be confused all the time. It's just frustrating when it's like "susu grandad left to go on a walk, go follow behind him to make sure he doesn't get lost" and then he takes like an hour and a half, or just looking for something in the kitchen and not being able to find it
