There are like an infinite number of possible ways people say "hello"/greet one another where I live. They include but are not limited to: - (English) hi, hello, hey, yo, what's up (and its derivatives), ah!; - (Mandarin) ni hao, - (Japanese) ohaiyo (good morning), konichiwa (good afternoon), moshi moshi; - (Cantonese) nei hou, zou san; - (Hokkien/Min Nan Yu) lee ho bo (which translates as 'you good?' or 'are things going well for you?'), jia ba bui (this actually translates as 'have you eaten', which is also a common greeting in place of 'hello'); [The Teochew variants of these also sound similar] - (Malay) Salaam - (French) Bonjour (actually 'good morning' but it's used mostly as 'hello'; 'bonsior' is used in place of bonjour later in the day) There are probably tons of others I've missed. |

“Hallo” is what we say in German, but “Moin!” Is another greeting that I prefer to use because I find it very cheerful sounding ☺️
