I use Lion Brand Yarn Summer Nights (it’s multicolor string with sparkles), which you can find online at Joann’s, Amazon, Etsy, and eBay.

I use DMC metallic thread! I just get it at Joanns or michaels. It frays like crazy though so you can put tape on the end, or tie a knot at the bottom, etc.
