Ok so for my youth camps everybody loves doing those little hair wraps that are basically the Chinese staircase but in your hair. Everybody in my youth group knows me as the girl who can make amazing bracelets and things but they were surprised to hear that I don't know how to do those hair wraps. So if anyone can tell me (or try to tell me because I feel like it would be hard to explain 😂 ) or has a tutorial I can watch that would be great!

If you have now idea what I am talking about, just search beach hair wrap. 🙂

I always thought that it was a Chinese staircase but with like other string wrapped around it and stuff, by now there’s a tutorial for lots of things so you can probably find a tutorial on it 😂

Ok o I just searched it and there are so many tutorials, so yeah, it’s pretty much a Chinese staircase sometimes when they change colors the color before wraps around it if that makes sense. But I think you should probably show them different styles to chose from and when they pick there colors then clip down all the colors right next to the chunk of hair and knot it together o you don’t need to glue the string down when you add it in (if you do some normal wrapping around it and not the Chinese staircase) this probably made no sense, but yeah. I also think there would be some cool ways to end it. You hold probably try it on you, but probably someone else in your family, or a friend cause you can see what your doing much better. Also I think doing a lice/tick check would be a good thing to do since your sticking your hands in there hair (idk just a recommendation)

I've done this before but I would recommend doing atebas instead because chinese staircases would be knotted onto your hair and would be harder to remove but atebas are just wrapped around your hair and you can do much more with atebas.

Hi! Hair wraps are so fun to do so here’s what I do, I actually use the wrapping method instead of the Chinese staircase version because I found that it ends up getting knotted into hair. So here are the steps and a couple of tips...

1) Take a small chunk of hair and brush it out, the more hair the thicker your hair wrap will be. Then starting from the root of the hair, braid it all the way down and either hold the braid with your fingers (you or the person who’s getting the hair wrap) or tie it with a small rubber band.
2) ✂️ Cut as many colors as you like! I personally go for around 3-5 colors since it’ more manageable, the length depends on how long the person’s hair is. I go for around a wingspan, remember that more is better than having to little.
3) Take all the threads and tie it onto the base/root of the hair, the closer and tighter it is the more secure it will be! Then here comes the wrapping!
4) Take the color you want to use and wrap it around the braid and the other colors like it’s one individual strand, keep wrapping until you get the desired length of the color. To switch colors just take out the other colored thread, place the thread you were working with next the braid then use the new color and wrap it around the braid and the previous color you were working with.
5) Keep wrapping until you have around and inch or so of hair left to wrap. After you’re done, create a secure knot using the thread around the hair. DO NOT TIE USING HAIR!
6) Tada! You’re done! ✅

-Tips and Tricks-
-These wraps can last up to a month, you can keep wearing until it starts to smell or starts to fade, you can take it out earlier if you want too!
-You can keep these on while swimming and when taking a shower! They might become a little felted though but don’t worry. 😉
-Create duo colored sections! Take two colors and hold them together, wrap around the braid like their and individual thread. Switch colors again like normal once you finish.
-To make sure they don’t fall out, check on the knot at the tip of the hair and tighten when needed!
-When doing this on yourself, look at a mirror, then start wrapping! You’re arms might get tired but keep going! Looking in the mirror will make it a lot neater.
-TAKE YOUR TIME! Trust me the longer you take the neater your wrap will be!
-Don’t leave while wrapping, you might have to start all over! 😅

That’s all from me! If you have any questions, just tag me in the comments or message me. I’ll try to reply! Hope this helps! 💕

it seems like people use the wrapping technique rather than knotting, there are video tutorials on youtube and pinterest 🙂

I did this so many times over quarantine and I love it SO MUCH! Basically take a small section of your hair and braid it together (this section should be very small!) then use water or hair spray so that there aren’t any hairs coming out of the braid and make sure the braid is secured in a small rubber band (if you don’t know what I’m talking about it’s a small clear rubber band and they are super cheap) then take the string you want and knot it onto your hair, then make a Chinese staircase in your hair. (Here’s a tutorial for the hair wraps it’s a really good tutorial.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RnfzQIAHnfc&t=11s
