I think I heard of this, but idk. Wear a ponytail holder and snap it whenever you want to do it. Also being held accountable by someone you trust helps a lot. You could even not tell them what it is, but have them ask you how much you did it every week. This will make you not want to do it.

Talk to someone about it. Trust me, it’ll really help

It depends on what the habit is, but one thing that’s usually helpful for breaking bad habits is doing something else instead of the habit. So when you’re getting the urge to do the habit, instead of just not doing it, you can drink a glass of water, wash your hands, do ten jumping jacks, work on a bracelet, clean your bathroom mirror, etc.

Don’t use a sharpie cause they are toxic, use non-toxic markers

@lucass_ It’s okay, the main point was the coloring. Which I agree is a good distraction

im glad that you're getting better! since i don't know what your habit is, i can't really help with this, however, try doing something that prevents you from doing it. when i was little i used to suck my thumb (i know a lot of kids do it, but i did it a lot and my dad had to make me stop since if you do it enough it can mess up your mouth), so to stop me from doing it i would put a bandaid on my thumb. i hated the texture and taste, so i stopped sucking my thumb. Also, another thing that could help is to find out why you do your habit. For me, sucking my thumb helped to calm me down. So to stop, I found a better habit without any bad affects that also helped to calm me down (rubbing my ears). Just a reminder that having a habit is nothing to be ashamed of! Some can be dangerous (like sucking your thumb), so try to stop those, but if there's no bad affects, then there's really no point in stopping it! I still rub my ears to this day when i get stressed 🙂 |
