Since it's a break up, I don't understand why you would be mad if he didn't respond. The point of a break up is to cut ties with a person. He's probably upset about it though, and he might need time to himself to deal with his emotions. He doesn't owe you a response right now, you've made it clear that you're not dating anymore.

oh i was gonna say not block him. like if someone broke up w me, i would need some time to myself, but then i would like to be able to reach out if i want to talk to her. so i wouldn’t block him but you don’t need to message him either. just give him some space.
