I have a touching disorder (haphephobia) and agoraphobia and im being forced to get a job over the summer because i wont be in school and food stamps wont cover me. i dont know what to do, this is very stressful and no one seems to be helping me and my anxiety levels have been through the roof with everything going on. i dont knw what to do and nothng seems to be working, ive tried to think about getting certain jobs like fastfood or grocery stores but i cant. my teachers will pat me on the back (which they're not suppose to anyway) and itll send me into a panic attack and i have to leave class early so i avoid being bumped in the hallways at school. i cant even hug my own mother its terrible and i dont know what to do. anyone know what i should do?

What about a virtual job so you don’t need to go anywhere? Maybe do some research. And I’m sorry to here about your disorders 😞

Perhaps something like a call center, recruitment, helpdesk. Something like that

@Rune I am not very good at this as I am only 10 but I would try one therapy session and see how that goes. As for a job try doing something that doesn't require too much physical human interaction would be better such as someone at a help desk or help at a shop.

well maybe virtual job like you can work from your home or somewhere that doesn’t involve you to be there. my uncle has a job where he works at home and he just like does stuff on the computer the entire time. he doesn’t talk to anyone rly and when he goes to meetings he just listens.

i know this is going to sound really bad, but hear me out. you could be a garbage works. like where i live at least, they pay really well, one. two: you’re not really talking to the people you “work for” the people who ur picking up trash for. i think you’d only have to talk to the person you’re operating with. i don’t really know the requirements for it, but like it’s an important job.

@12345puppy you're fine, im 18 so theres a big difference but i appreciate you trying to help. I'm in exposure therapy now, i completed tf-cbt so now im on a different type of therapy to help with that. It takes those two anxiety disorders and exposes me to situations with them in a safe environment so i can hopefully get past them, but it can be years before i get to a point where i can say i no longer have those issues. agoraphobia is a panic disorder that derives from previous panic attacks/PTSD and makes it hard for me to get things like milk or get gas, every human interaction to me is a panic attack waiting to happen. the idea of agoraphobia is to get a job where i dont interact with people because if i were to get a call at a desk job i would probably hang up halfway through and cry, i cant even set up my own apts for anything, my mom has to do it all because of how stressful small interactions are like that so i dont think a desk job or working at a shop would be good, i would either be fired or quit within the first week |

@Nathalieyb agoraphobia is a panic disorder that derives from previous panic attacks/PTSD, its a social thing. if you look it up online the basic run down they give you is a fear of people but in all actuality its the fear of having a panic attack especially in public or in front of others, so working with people wont be a good fit. I was suppose to go on a virtual call since i was told by my school that it was to pick my classes, and i couldnt find the password to my college account so i broke down and didnt even do the call and didnt email the person and let her know what happened until 3 days later. turns out it was okay, i found my password and thats not even what the call was, so we figured it out, but i full blown broke down because i wasnt prepared and was afraid of the repercussions it would have if i went on call

@lucass_ garbage man sounds lit, they make thousands more than teachers do here and they are necessary workers, I'll look into that and see. i wanted to become a mail man but realized that meant driving and i cant do that, so to be able to hang onto the back of the truck and unload everyone's trash would be cool, and you're suppose to go with someone and have a buddy incase something happens so i wont have to drive

brilliant. i told my parents that i could be a garbage dude and they just kinda looked at me and were like why....? and i’m like think of all the perks. and like the garbage truck is kinda cool. like with the grab thingy. so yeah. and you don’t rly have to interact with people too. so that’s a plus. really hope that you figure this all it, good luck!

Oh I'm sorry about that, my adhd brain only read about the touching disorder and skipped the agoraphobia somehow... Oops. I hope you'll be able to figure something out! You're trying and that's already amazing! (Although it might not feel like it is)
