Try to stay off of it and don’t get too many apps, if you are on it all day your parents will take it away, try to get things that will be of some use, don’t get junk apps. Get a reliable phone, don’t get a fancy, newfangled phone, I got one that was made in 2020 and it’s not really working. Apple is better than Samsung. Pro- You can easily get help and contact people. Con- Its addicting. Pro- You can be okay with staying home alone, or going to a friends house, cause you know that you can call someone for help or if something goes wrong. Con- It can give you a headache. I don’t recommend getting social media. It’s not worth it and your parents might take the phone away if you are on social media

Yeah, social media has been proven to worsen depression and suicidal thoughts.
So definitely stay away if you have struggled with any mental illness.
I second only getting useful apps

Hello! Here are my pros and cons for cellphones:
Pros
- You can quickly get ahold of someone in an emergency.
- You can get the BB app! 😄
- It is portable and very convenient for communication. If someone needs to get ahold of you, you will be there when they need to call/text you.
- You can connect to others in the bracelet community, or in other communities through social media (ex. Facebook groups, if you have Facebook)
- You can talk to your friends, despite the lockdowns (depending on where you live, of course)
In Between (I am not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing)
- You will get more access to social media
Cons
- Social media can be damaging. Be careful when you are on, and who you follow.
- Screen time can cause headaches (at least for me lol)
- Spammers can text you and ask to call them or advertise something (make sure not to click on the text, just delete it) (swiping to the left and clicking the red "delete" button is how you delete a contact through texting)
- It could become a distraction

Personally, I like having a cell phone! They are really convenient and make it really easy to communicate with people. They are especially convenient during this pandemic, because you can easily reach your friends by video chatting, texting, and calling. They are also good for taking pictures. (I use mine to take photos of my bracelets) I use my phone only when I need it, and there are not a lot of problems with having a phone in my opinion. Overall, having a phone is genuinely convenient!
I hope this helps! 😄

I like having a phone! The only con of having a phone (for me) is that it is distracting and addicting especially during school. Do not use it too much at night especially if something is bothering you that makes it hard to sleep, as that just makes it harder to sleep. Like if I’m super scared about something, going on my phone calms me down but if I go on it too much it’s harder to sleep. On school nights or the night before school starts again or if you need to wake up early for something, I try to stay on it for a minimum of 10-15 minutes, and on weekends/the day right before a weekend I don’t care but I try to still only use it for maybe an hour. This is just how my parents are, I’m not supposed to stay up super late on school nights and on weekends it doesn’t matter too much as long as you will be able to fall asleep after and it won’t keep you up all night.

You can stay close to your friends if you have a phone and they can contact you too. You can listen to music with your own device. You can look up things with your own device. You don’t need to use your parents device to look things up or listen to music 😂 I was so annoying if I was bored I would always ask for my dads phone so I could use an app. You can have more freedom. (like the last few things I mentioned) one more con is if your parents always monitor everything there’s not a point in having a phone as you won’t even have privacy. My parents aren’t like that though so I don’t have a problem with that

You can turn on screen time and set time limits on certain apps. However, that didn’t work for me and I had to delete the apps that got to addicting.

Stay off social media, it's for the better, you will soon start to see yourself wishing to be what seems a "reality" on there... when really.. it's all fake. Drama occurs on there too.

Look at your screen time daily and see how many hours you spend on certain apps... this can really bring you back to reality and it may shock you how many hours you spend on an app (such as tiktok. lol.)

it does help that you are able to communicate with others, but be careful, online safety.

if you are on your phone 24/7 and can't part with it, then you should ask your parents to take it at certain times that way you are more open to other things and you don't rely on your phone, this can also show responsibility to your parents.

Try to spend little time on social media! When i used to have social media i was constantly comparing myself to others and that made me feel really bad. But since im off of social media im doing better.

I love having my phone! it makes me feel like a big girl lol 🤪 but yes it can cause some headaches or sore eyes, and getting addictive games can be dangerous when you are trying to do homework... 😂

I didn’t get social media until I was 17, it’s not really a hard necessity. I’d say the major pros of having a phone are being in easy contact with your friends (one of my friends has a landline and nothing else so it’s hard to coordinate with her 🙁) and being able to easily coordinate with classmates for group projects. I’d say the cons are that there is a potential to get addicted to your phone and have it eat away at your productivity. I would say it’s good to keep the number of apps on your phone to a minimum and don’t play games on it. Maybe think of your phone as a tool and not a toy.
