hey there, im pretty new to bracelet book but ive been making bracelets for a few years now. i want to make #27629 for my best friend. ive never made a bracelet withmore than 16 strings, and for that matter ive never made an alpha. my question is, could someone help me out with approximate dimensions in inches or centimeters for a bracelet of that size? i know size can differ based on thread, knot tightness etc, but im just looking for an estimate. my friend doesnt wear bracelets much and i really dont know if this pattern is gonna be way too wide and overwhelming for him, and im also not sure if it’ll be too long. one last question: how long should i cut the white threads for this? thank you so much to anyone whos able to help, sorry im such a n00b

hey! its so cool that you're making your friend a bracelet like this! I'm not sure how long you would cut the base strings because I've never made this pattern, but when you use the white string (the leading string) you shouldn't cut it. You should just use the skein of thread and hold the whole thing in your hand. That makes it easier and you won't have to add more thread!!

I’ve never made a bracelet that length, but just keep in mind that 130 rows is actually a lot. That’s super long for an alpha. It’s 25 base strings, which isn’t super thick, but it’s definitely not thin either. I’m sorry about not being able to give exact measurements

So my alphas are roughly 13 rows per inch, so this pattern would be about 10 inches long and a couple of inches wide. For reference, I aim for like 80-82 rows for a 6 inch bracelet.

@eva-seria i was envisioning a bracelet— i just wanted to visulize it and make sure its not gonna take up half his arm lmao. but on second thought, maybe it would be better as a keychain???thank you guys so much for the help, i really appreciate it!!

Actually, if you wanted to make a bracelet maybe you could just make the horse? It’s 53 rows long, so you could do 1 inch of back ground, count how many rows there are, the divide 53 by the rows in 1 inch to know how many rows of background color you’d need to center the design.
