Do you guys ever ask for rights or pay copyright fees to artist from whom you're selling bracelets.

For example, I've made a bracelet pattern for Twenty One Pilots and I hope to sell bracelets of that pattern on etsy. Would you, etsy sellers, ask for permission to sell said bracelet, or no?

Thanks!

I had the same thought because I've made a few patterns that are more than likely copy right protected but I figure as long as I'm not claiming ownership of something copy written and instead just charging for the work put into my projects I see no reason to ask pemission . If you're worried about it being official licensed merchandise and would like to then charge more for it then yes I would ask permission but I would assume there would be like a royalties charge from the copy right holder for the use of their ' property ' for lack of a better word. Hope this helps 🙂

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I think that they only ever go after people if there is really a lot of money involved. Otherwise I think they prefer people to pay royalties, as you said. Thanks!! 😄

I also have a question about selling on Etsy. Since there are so many friendship bracelet sellers on Etsy, do you guys get many costumers?

My regular patterns do not get many customers. but the items i have that are unique and fill a niche are very successful. my advice, make items you don't see on etsy, don't just recreate other people's product.

If you make a bracelet from a tutorial or a video you found online do you give them credit for the pattern when you are selling the bracelet?

that depends. how creative/different is it? part of me says yes but the other part of me says no cause like... what are you going to do? give them part of the profit?

i wouldn't worry about giving credit. after all, you did the physical labor and etsy seems to be a home for fanwork (i would say patterns fall under the same logic when it comes to protection)
