Help with pattern #50000

So i wanted to make #50000 on a dowel but the pattern starts from the short side, so the snake would come out sideways. I thought of turning it and look at the grid but then there would be 72 base strings and i never did anything that big and i'd probably miscount all the time. I also thought of making it and then attach it to the dowel how i want it but i'd have to use glue or nail polish and risk ruining it. Sorry for how long it is 😂 what should i do?

Hi! So i just thought about this on spot, not sure if it works. You can know normally, with the normal amount of base strings, not 72. Place the dowel on the right side of your work. Every time you finish a row on that side, loop your knotting string around the dowel, then continue. If this doesnt make sense, you could privately message me and i will try to explain with more detail. Im going to try it tonight, to see if it works. Ill keep you updated!

@PotatoPeel i tried the method you suggested on some scrap thread and it works perfectly! Now i only have to find a backround colour that matches well enough and i'll start it, thank you so much!
