So i'm new and for now i've only made normal patterns but i've searched for some alpha tutorials out of curiosity. The thing is they seem to use too much string for such a small result (especially the backround strings) and i'm sure that i'd mess up with switching colours so i'm not really interested in learning how to make them, but they are sooo cute and there are so many beautiful patterns to make about every topic!

Watch Kinsey B’s reading alpha pattern tutorial or Masha knots flat alpha technique! Alphas aren’t difficult, you’ve just got to switch strings. I reckon you should learn alphas you won’t regret it!

You’re right that they use up a lot of string. But once you get a little practice with them, they’re not very hard. Some people even find them easier than normal patterns

I personally find that if I don't complete the alpha in one sitting, I'll lose motivation. However when making normals, I can do them in various sittings.

@ShivaniS Same! I thought it was just a weird quirk of mine 😂

It's weird for sure. I can pick up a normal pattern any time, and I have like 5 alphas that I just put to the side and lost all interest for.

Alphas aren't really that hard, but I do find them less enjoyable than normal patterns. Watch Masha Knots or Megan Morris on alpha techniques, their videos are great
