I hate this whole BLM thing. (Sorry if that offends you, read on to understand) Half of my family is African American and the other half isn’t. This whole scenario is tearing my family apart. I haven’t seen my cousin/BFF since this whole thing started!!! It’s really hard for me, and to make matters worse getting rid of the police is completely terrifying and inappropriate. In my family we don’t really talk that much, like have a meaningful conversation so I would really appreciate it if Someone would talk to me and maybe give me advice on how to handle things. Thanks!

I would recommend just speaking your mind to your parents, tell them what you honestly think, and that you want to see your cousin. Make them realize that you love all of your family for who they are. And I also do not think getting rid of the police would do much either.. it would make matters worse.

I don’t know if any of this will help, but like it has already been suggested, speak your mind. Don’t be afraid to use your voice and tell your family how you feel. I would remind your family that everyone is (or at least should be) on the same side here and that in times like this we need to spread love. It sounds dumb I know but seriously. Choosing to love someone over all differences you might have is a powerful thing.
