@BeadGirl16. I got my expanders 6 months before I got my braces on I got the expander out last month I am so happy I don't have to have it in anymore but it did hurt me a lot to have it taken out.

I've had braces twice, and now I have a permanent retainer on the bottom and a removable one on top.

I used to have them but imo, they weren't too bad bc I only had them on my 4 front top teeth and 4 front bottom teeth...... but let me tell all of you true pain....... spacers (it's where they put a small rubber band in between 2 teeth to create a gap in so you can wear a retainer)

i had a turtle, which is an expander i guess because i had to crank it every night too lol. i had it on for half a year then got my braces on with it. after a couple of months i got the turtle off and i still have my braces. i just went to get new bands the other day(i got teal and black btw). im almost done my treatment tho, i have to close the gaps on the back of my teeth then wear the last wire for eight months when the spaces are closed. 😂

@mouse-rat Thank you! I also had to have those rubber band spacers on my back teeth and it hurt soooo bad when they put them in. I also had to have one of those brackets that goes all the way around the tooth cause I broke one of my back brackets. That wasn't fun when they put it on either, so word of advice listen to what you're not supposed to eat. Also, wear your rubber bands when you're supposed to otherwise the treatment will be longer.

The best part was that it helped my smile improve ( my smile isn’t as good now) and the worst was that I had to have my four bottom front teeth filed in between because they were so pushed together that there was no room to move. I may get braces again later on life because my braces did not fix all my teeth. I was just tire of having them and my teeth were straight enough. My orthodontist also wasn’t the best, but my insurance payed for everything so I think it was an okay deal. My overbite was fixed quickly because I was good about the rubber bands. I have been told this is a myth but at the time I was told that if I didn’t brush my teeth after every meal with braces my teeth would scar where the brackets where. I do have a very white spot on one of my canines, but I don’t know if neglecting to brush at school my last year of having them was the cause. If braces were an amazon product I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars just because of little errors my orthodontist made which made me have to have braces longer than I could have. At the beginning the foods I couldn’t eat disappointed me but I got a bit more chill and forgot about the foods that were an absolute no-no. So it was a nice surprise rediscovering all the candy I could now eat after getting my braces off.

i have them! i get mine off soon and i don’t want them off!!! i’ve had them for a year and a half. i feel like they make me prettier 😂

I have braces and really for me I could care less mine don’t hurt except when they put a spring on but I’m pretty sure this is the last spring I have of my treatment so my braces won’t hurt anymore

@ajbunicorn the thing that helped best for me was just eating cold and soft stuff like ice cream and froyo 😁 if the wire is poking u definitely use the wax ur ortho gave u (if they did ofc) bc that stuff works so well!! if it’s still bothering u a lot just take some pain meds or call ur ortho for tips 😊 hope this helps!!
