Young girls are often pressured to let go of their interests to be like other people. They are told what clothing is in style, what makeup looks good, how to wear their hair, and what they can and cannot do in order to fit in. I’m here to tell you the truth about young girls. I’m someone who knows, as I remember how it was. Please have as many crushes as you want, but know that you don’t have to date someone to be happy. Please wear as much makeup as you like, but know that you are beautiful without it. Please like anything you are interested in, but know that it’s okay to “go through a phase” and lose interest. It is so important that you be true to yourself. That means you can make tik tok videos with your friends. You can wear the scrunchies. You can do whatever else becomes popular, and you can stick with it as long as you want, even when it isn’t popular anymore. Whoever you want to be, you can be. To all of you who like anime, who still sleep with stuffed animals, who wear bright pink or blue eyeshadow because you think it looks awesome even when your friends disagree. Take pride in your ability to do all of these things because it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Please know that you don’t have to be the skinny to be beautiful. “Overweight” is not the same thing as “ugly”. As a girl who has been “overweight” her whole life, I can tell you that I started to feel beautiful when I stopped looking in the mirror at my flaws and started looking for things that I liked. Likewise please know that it is okay to be skinny too. Skinny shaming is real, and it is not okay. Your body type doesn’t determine your beauty. And on the topic of boys, please don’t let a boy lower your self-esteem. If really likes you, lifting you up and making you feel good about yourself will be sooo important to him. He will make you feel beautiful and he will show you how much he cares about you by his actions. If you don’t feel like your boyfriend/crush is lifting you up, he isn’t the right one for you. Please take care of yourselves and pursue your interests, even if they aren’t “cool” or “popular” ❤️ |

@jesmc2129 Thank you soo much for this! I often try to remember this and sometimes it's hard so thank you for the reminder. There are soo many young girls who need to read this! This is soooo true, and it doesn't only apply to young girls. I think all girls and women need to know that they are beautiful no matter what they think or what others think. You are amazing and if others can't see that maybe they aren't worth your time."You were born to be real, not perfect" - Ralph Marston "She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make others smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. She is beautiful. - F Scott Fitzgerald |

Oh, I wrote that last paragraph in a straight point of view, but please know that it applies to all relationships whether they be straight or LGBTQ+

@AG13 I’m soooo glad. It can be really hard to go into a new school (I know, I’ve been there), but if you just stay true to yourself, things will work out for the better 😊

Thank you so much for saying that. I'm not the sort of girl that follows along with the "social norms" and I'm okay with that. Sometimes I do feel a little left out though since I don't participate in the things that "normal" high school girls do. Your words really mean a lot to me. You are a beautiful and incredible person 🙂
