i started making bracelets a while ago maybe like 3 years ago but i wasn’t really good and i only really started because i saw a tutorial on youtube and my grandma just happened to have embroidery floss. then i forgot completely about bracelets and stuff until the vsco trend came around then i remembered all of the bracelet stuff but i still wasn’t really good but i still found it fun. then i also forgot about bracelet making until i saw someone do it on tiktok and other signs that were basically telling me to start doing it again. so i did and it has been a great way to have fun during quarantine and i have definelty improved from when i first started.

My cousin only knew chinese staircase and candy stripe. She taught me them but my first attempts failed because I could not start the bracelet. I later on my own was bored and decided to try it again because I wanted another bracelet as I’m addicted to them. I didn’t end up wearing my first. Then I wanted to make a bracelet with names in it so I found Kinsey b’s tutorial which led me to find out it is called an alpha. I began to be addicted to making alpha patterns and soon other friendship bracelet patterns because so many people I know like them, they are fun to make and they bring me joy when I make them. Also I self taught myself based off of my cousin showing me forward knots and then later on I started watching tutorials and tips on YouTube to apply to my bracelet making and sometimes I would try out a technique and then watch a video to make sure I’m doing it right. (And yes I did watch a tutorial on reading patterns) oh and I got to teach my cousin to make a chevron which was fun

I first started making friendship bracelets when I was 9 or 10 but I didn't keep up with it. I recently dislocated both of my kneecaps at the same time, so I could hardly walk. I have also had multiple mental illnesses for years now, and my injury made me so upset that literally nothing made me happy. I could not walk much and one day I was bored of just sitting on the couch so I decided to work on a bracelet I started a long time ago. When I did work on it I was happy again! So ever since the end of April (the time of my injury) I have been a bracelet making machine because it is the one thing that has brought me joy recently and I don't want to just give it up. Side note: I have rediscovered happiness in other things as well and am doing better mentally than I was doing.

I started making bracelets at 5th grade because a teacher of mine used to have different and always amazing bracelets! I first started by making candy stripes (loads of them 😆) and then I learned some more advanced patterns. I came to bracelet book after Masha Knots (here @Racoon) recommendation and I really LOVE this site!!!!!Making bracelets is now one of my hobbies and I enjoy making them (although sometimes I get annoyed by my own mistakes 😅). |

Last summer i was at my best friends house and she showed me how to make a Chinese staircase. That day i knew i loved it. I came home that afternoon and i ordered a 150 pack of thread on amazon so i could make some. Once it came in i found mashaknots YouTube channel and i started learning more advanced bracelets. Now i sell them at my local consignment store. I keep making them because something about weaving them is relaxing and helps me relieve my anxiety and stress.

two years ago, i was doing a suicide awareness day at my school. i wanted some accessories that were purple and blue (suicide awareness colors), but i couldn’t find any. i ended up going to a craft store and found a bracelet making kit. it had really bad instructions that took me a long time to understand. when i finally got the hang of it, i made a bunch of bracelets for my friends and i. looking back, they weren’t the best quality, but i’m happy i was introduced into this wonderful community!

I started making them 9 years ago and I got interested because I had a friend who made some simple patterns. I ended up getting a book from the library and ended up making all of them and then I discovered friendship-bracelets.net and bracelet book and I was so amazed by all the different patterns that I could make and was just obsessed. I used to work at a call center so I would make them while on the phones, or travelling to work, road trips etc. I just love how portable it is and can make these anywhere. |

I started making them when my sister was getting ready to move out, she found a book abt them and she gave me the book and the string, I keep making them because it gives me something to do when I’m bored of video games😅, it really doesn’t mean anything to me cause I rarely wear them cause they fall off I also don’t make them for myself a lot I make them as presents for my family and friends 🙂

I learned to make bracelets in summer camp when I was eight, but it was just the extreme basics at the time. I made jewelry here and there for the next few years. When I was 12, I had a major surgery and couldn't do much for awhile and I remember really getting back into bracelets during that time. I only knew how to make candy stripes, chevrons, and chinese staircases. And I would only make half knots lol. I made bracelets on and off throughout the rest of middle school, high school, and the first year of college. Somewhere in there, I finally learned the right way to make a knot. At age 19, I had been struggling with my mental health for a long time and had to go to treatment for several months. I made a bracelet (sometimes 2 or 3) every day during that time, and would spend the majority of group therapy sessions knotting. Now, in quarantine, my OCD has been going haywire, and knotting helps funnel that anxious energy. I've made about 60 bracelets during quarantine alone. I made about 60 or 70 in treatment but gave a lot to friends and other patients. Still a huge collection that I totally love though!

I started when my older cuz. taught me how to do the candy stripe and since then I just kept getting more and more experienced. Now I know how to do more than her. 😂 To be honest I just think its relaxing and fun to wear, make and give to others. I really had no idea their were this many patterns that you can do with string. 🤪 😜 😛

I started when I was about 12 because my middle school “girlfriend” (lol if you can even call it that when you’re that young) always wore cool bracelets and I wanted to impress her. Now that I’m an adult, it’s a relaxing break from college junk and a generally nice creative outlet, especially now that we’re all (hopefully) home quite a bit of the time due to the pandemic

Hi! My names Esme and I started making my bracelets since quarantine! A day hasn’t gone by that I haven’t been knotting and I am pretty much entirely self taught! I love to make them as they are so rewarding at the end, especially alphas 💓

I started making them because my younger sister got a kit when she was like 12 and she wasn't really using it. I started reading into it and watching YouTube videos on it and two years later I'm still making them. I've been doing them a lot more since quarantine to take up time and to help with the stress I've been facing lately.

I learned at Girl Scout camp when I was 7 and kept doing them ever since, I keep making them because they allow me to find something that represents me and looking back on a bracelet I made reminds me of what happened during that time in my life.
