I HIGHLY recommend The Lunar Chronicles series!I also recommend the book Ella Enchanted. It's such a great retelling of Cinderella, and it's not too long of a read either. If you've seen the movie with Anne Hathaway; It is next to nothing like the book. The concept of Ella being cursed to do everything she's told and the names of the characters are all the same, but that's about it. I enjoyed the movie, but in comparison it was more highly comical while the book is deeper and gives meaning to all the little details of the Cinderella story such as why the stepmother and stepsisters would hate her and why the shoe not fitting anyone else makes sense. It also shows an actual relationship developing between Ella and the Prince, not just meeting once and then getting married. Wow, I didn't mean for that to be so long, but it is really one of my favorite books! |
