hii, so i'm paticipating in a job search competition. the competition includes doing a resume, cover letter, and an interview. Any advice on the interview portion? Also the interviewer will likely be a teacher that I am kinda awkward with, so any advice for that would be good. Theres no hard feelings or anything, its just that we are both kinda awkward conversationalists. Thanks in advanced!

Make sure to research the company, so your interview answers align with the company and your can demonstrate your knowledge about their mission etc. Tons of interview question practice will help. There are examples online of common interview questions, mentally prepare yourself to answer them by preparing a mental script in advance. Another good method is the “STAR method” where you get to answer interview questions in a structured way that provides examples of job qualities they are looking for. Lastly, try to ask them a question or two about the company to show them you’re genuinely interested in learning about their work. Make sure to thank them afterwards as well. Good luck!

IK this is like a week old but hopefully this will help someone. Whenever I go in for a job interview I always ask the same set of questions at the end of the interview. So far I've had really good luck with this technique and (not to brag but) I usually get a pretty good reaction when I do this. The questions are- 1. What are some attributes an employee needs to be successful in this working environment? 2. What does the day-to-day routine consist of? What is your favorite part of the job? 3. Are there any special/ annual events I need to be aware of? Can you tell me more about my expected role in those events? 4. Would you like me to elaborate on anything (answers to questions, experience, qualifications, etc.) further? Is there anything you'd like to know more about? 5. Are there any questions that I didn't ask that you would suggest I ask/ is there anything else I need to know? ALSO!! I know it's hard but SELL YOURSELF! Don't be over-the-top, but have confidence. If you lack it, fake it until you make it. You want to come across as confident and secure, even if you're not at all. The employers will see a reasonable amount of confidence as proof that you will be competent doing your job. If you show that you are an anxious wreck, they won't trust you to carry yourself properly. Make good eye contact, smile, give a firm handshake and greet everyone you will be working with. Stay off of your phone, even if you are waiting for your interview to start. At the end, thank everyone for their time and consideration. Then you can go scream at the top of your lungs in the car when you're finished and let all of that anxiety leave your body. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😊 |
