I was thinking yesterday, are there any stuff that isn't really said but you would think someone was rude for not doing? like the braceletbook version of not holding the door for someone behind you. or, is there something that you wish more people DIDNT do? here's a place to talk about manners!

Leaving low ratings and criticising patterns:Leaving low ratings is definitely considered rude. Sometimes it happens accidentally and I often see people apologising for it which I think is a good thing to do. If you genuinely do not like a pattern or have something to criticise about it, always do so in a constructive way and in a way that does not attack the person themselves. But the best thing to do is to just leave it be. Forum: Before posting something, always check if something similar has been asked recently. Also check the frequently asked questions. Some questions get asked so often. Make your own new topic, if you have a request or question. Don't just take over someone else's topic. I think taking over other people's topics is a bit rude, because then people might answer to you, but not to them. Tag people and patterns. People who are not the person who started the topic otherwise won't get notifications which makes it less likely that you'll get a reply back from them. Tagging patterns makes it so much faster for web users to access the pattern you are talking about. Give good titles to your forum topic. The one you have given is very good, but sometimes a title can just be 'help' and then you have to click on each time to see what it's even about. Be as descriptive in the topic itself as you need, because only then people can really help you. Posting patterns: Read the guidelines before posting a pattern. So many people don't. Each day we moderators have to decline so many simple word patterns and other patterns on the list of patterns that are no longer accepted. Don't copy other people's patterns (even if these patterns are posted on a different website). If you take elements from other people's patterns, ask them if they are alright with it. |
